Access and transport
Val-de-Briey is located 60 km north of Nancy and 25 km north of Metz, in the Pays de Briey, an area marked by its remarkable industrial and architectural heritage.
- By car: From Nancy or Metz, take the A4 exit Briey/Jarny, then the D643 towards Briey centre. Free parking near the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville. The journey from Nancy takes about 50 minutes, from Metz about 30 minutes.
- By train: Conflans-Jarny station (TER from Nancy or Metz), then a bus connection to Briey (regular bus line, about 20 minutes). It is advisable to check return bus times for the evening.
- By carpooling: Carpooling solutions are encouraged. The large size of the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville allows easy access to meeting points.
Festival location
The festival takes place outdoors on the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Briey, in the heart of Briey's historic town center. This shaded square, surrounded by heritage buildings, offers a pleasant and intimate setting for jazz concerts. Chairs and bleachers are set up facing the stage.
Schedule
Thursday, August 14: concerts from 7 p.m. (three bands perform in the evening). Friday, August 15 (public holiday): concerts from 2:30 p.m., with three bands scheduled in the afternoon and early evening. The raffle draw takes place on Friday at 6 p.m.
Prices
All concerts are completely free. Food and drinks are payable at the food trucks and the bar. Raffle tickets are on sale on site.
Food and drink
Food trucks are set up on the square, offering a variety of food options: hot meals, sandwiches, grills, and local specialties. A bar serves cold drinks, beers, and wines. You can bring your own picnic and sit in the nearby green spaces.

A raffle is organized during the festival, with musical instruments and CDs to be won. Tickets are on sale on site and the draw takes place on Friday at 6 p.m.

Every August, the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Briey transforms into an open-air jazz stage. The Briey Jazz Festival, organized by the Club Django, Miles and Jo, offers two days of free concerts in a warm and relaxed atmosphere, in the heart of this commune in northern Meurthe-et-Moselle.
An eclectic program
The festival hosts six bands over two days, offering a broad and accessible panorama of jazz:
- Gypsy Swing: in the tradition of Django Reinhardt, bands get the square swinging
- Vocal Jazz: male and female jazz singers interpret the standards
- Contemporary Jazz: modern ensembles exploring the genre's boundaries
- New Orleans: brass bands and ensembles in the festive spirit of New Orleans
- Blues-jazz: encounters between the two sister musical traditions
Typical Schedule
Concerts begin in the late afternoon on Thursday (from 7 p.m.) and from the early afternoon on Friday (from 2:30 p.m.), with three bands scheduled each day. The succession of bands allows the public to travel through different jazz styles in a festive atmosphere.
A festival driven by passion
The Club Django, Miles and Jo is an association of jazz enthusiasts based in Val-de-Briey. For over fifteen years, these volunteers have been organizing the festival with the ambition of making jazz accessible to as many people as possible. The free concerts are at the heart of their approach, allowing all audiences to discover or rediscover this music.
