Cap sur le Cotentin Festival
Craft and culture festival at Bricquebec Castle
2026
About Cap sur le Cotentin
Launched in 2023, the Cap sur le Cotentin festival is a free, family-friendly event organized by the Cap sur les Talents association within the courtyard of the medieval castle in Bricquebec-en-Cotentin. Over two days, it brings together creators, artisans, producers, musicians, and performance troupes from the Cotentin region for a craft market, live entertainment (theater, magic, dance, concerts), sports workshops, activities for all ages, and local food options, all set against the backdrop of a castle founded under William the Conqueror. While the first three editions were held in June, the festival has taken place in mid-May since 2026.
Cap sur le Cotentin — edition 2026
The 4th edition of the Cap sur le Cotentin festival takes over the courtyard of the Château de Bricquebec on Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM on Saturday and from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday. The program features a market showcasing creators, artisans, and producers from the Cotentin region, the Monstrerie Moriboum's cabinet of curiosities, a 70s rock apéro-concert by Road to the Seventies, the Croqué-Coulé pirate show, and sports workshops. Admission is free and open to everyone.
Two free days at the foot of the Bricquebec keep
Organized by the Cap sur les Talents association, the 4th edition of the Cap sur le Cotentin festival will be held on Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th, 2026, in the courtyard of the Château de Bricquebec-en-Cotentin. The festival will be open from 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM on Saturday—with extended hours to host an evening apéro-concert—and from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday. Access is free for both days, staying true to the principle the association has upheld since the first edition in 2023.
A market for creators, artisans, and producers
The market remains the heart of the weekend: creators, artisans, and producers from the Cotentin region will set up their stalls within the castle walls to showcase their work to the public. The previous edition brought together over 150 exhibitors and artists, and this 2026 format continues in the same spirit of direct interaction between the public and the makers.
Shows, music, and workshops
The stage program is spread across both afternoons. Les Gob's de Fer will perform their short, 15-minute theater, combat, and comedy show Les Aventures de Berthe four times. On Saturday, Sunrise de Siouville-Hague will offer a country dance demonstration and workshops, followed by the Scintillantes en Cotentin, majorettes from Bricquebec-en-Cotentin, presenting their new show. Saturday evening features a new addition: an apéro-concert with Road to the Seventies playing 70s rock covers. On Sunday, the sea shanty choir Amarrage—born from an initiative by the Fondation Bon Sauveur de la Manche bringing together mental health caregivers and patients, and now open to all—will perform in the early afternoon, followed by the pirate show Croqué-Coulé by the Mémento Moriboum company.
The cabinet of curiosities
Open both days, the Monstrerie Moriboum's cabinet of curiosities invites visitors, brave or otherwise, into an experience blending magic, illusions, and inexplicable phenomena, guided by Professor Moriboum.
Activities and sports
The UCB Bricquebec will host a boxing demonstration, visitors can try their hand at sword fighting, and Jean-Paul Lecouvey's magic bicycle will be roaming the festival. A raffle will be held to benefit the association.
On-site and rainy weather
Food, drinks, and treats will be available within the festival grounds throughout the weekend. In case of bad weather, the festival will still go ahead and move to the Salle Jean Elliard in Bricquebec-en-Cotentin.

Cap sur le Cotentin: Craftsmanship and Culture at the Foot of the Keep
The Cap sur le Cotentin festival is a young cultural and artisanal event born in 2023, spearheaded by the Bricquebec-based association Cap sur les Talents. It takes place in an exceptional setting: the courtyard of the Bricquebec castle, one of the most formidable strongholds of the medieval Cotentin. Founded during the reign of William the Conqueror, the castle has preserved its impressive polygonal keep, providing a remarkable heritage backdrop for this popular, entirely free festival that draws thousands of visitors each year.
A Cotentin Craft Market
At the heart of the festival is a market featuring creators, artisans, and producers who showcase the expertise of the Cotentin region. Potters, jewelers, leather and wood workers, textile artists, illustrators, authors, and local producers present their work and engage with the public—with over 150 exhibitors and artists featured in the 2025 edition. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the richness of artisanal creation in this part of Normandy and head home with unique, locally-made pieces.
Shows, Music, and Workshops
Beyond the market, the festival offers a varied program of live performances: theater, magic, cabinets of curiosities, dance, and concerts, featuring mostly local Cotentin troupes and ensembles. Local sports clubs also play a role in the programming, offering demonstrations and introductory sessions open to the public, such as boxing and sword fighting. Activities run throughout the weekend, with a special focus on young audiences and families.
A Free and Friendly Festival
Cap sur le Cotentin stands out for its commitment to being completely free, a core value of the organizing association, and for its friendly atmosphere. Food, drinks, and treats are available on-site all weekend long. Hours vary from one edition to the next: in 2026, the festival is open Saturday from 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM, featuring an evening apéro-concert, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. In case of bad weather, the event will still go ahead, moving to the Salle Jean Elliard in Bricquebec-en-Cotentin.
