Craft and culture festival at Bricquebec Castle
The Cap sur le Cotentin festival is a young cultural and artisanal event born in 2023, taking place in an exceptional setting: the courtyard of the medieval castle of Bricquebec, one of the most powerful strongholds of medieval Cotentin. Founded during the reign of William the Conqueror, the castle has retained its impressive polygonal keep and offers a remarkable heritage backdrop for this popular and entirely free festival.
The heart of the festival is a craft market that showcases the artisanal know-how of the Cotentin region. Potters, jewelers, leather and wood workers, textile artists, illustrators, and local authors present their creations and interact with the public. It's an opportunity to discover the richness and diversity of artisanal creation in this part of Normandy and to leave with unique pieces made locally by passionate artisans.
Beyond the market, the festival offers a varied program of live performances: theater, magic, dance, and concerts, including pop-folk music sets. Folk dances also animate the castle, recalling the region's cultural traditions. Activities are offered throughout the weekend, with particular attention paid to young audiences and families, for a moment of intergenerational conviviality.
Cap sur le Cotentin stands out for its complete freeness and its friendly spirit. Food and drinks are available on-site throughout the weekend, highlighting local Cotentin products. The festival is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 7 pm, offering a full weekend of cultural and artisanal discoveries in an exceptional historic site.
