Traveling jazz season in the heart of Norman villages
Jazz dans les Prés is a traveling jazz season dedicated to rural Normandy. Created in 2015 by Guillaume Chevillard and the association Happy Jazz Club, this initiative brings jazz to the heart of villages in Manche, Calvados, and Orne. Each month, from March to October, a renowned artist shares the stage with regional musicians for ephemeral musical moments. Over 180 concerts in 160 communes since its creation.
Since 2015, Jazz dans les Prés has been bringing jazz where you least expect it: in meadows, barns, churches, farms, and bistros of the Norman countryside. This unique artistic project, born from the passion of Guillaume Chevillard and the Happy Jazz Club association, has become one of Normandy's most endearing musical adventures.
The principle of Jazz dans les Prés is based on an original concept centered on creation and encounter. Each month, from March to October, a national or international renowned artist — saxophonist, pianist, singer, double bassist — is invited to stay for three days in a Norman territory. During this time, they share the stage with regional musicians to create unique, ephemeral, and original musical moments. The result: concerts where improvisation, exchange, and surprise are at the heart of the experience.
Jazz dans les Prés unfolds across four partner territories in three Norman departments:
The commune of Arromanches-les-Bains also hosts concerts. This rural focus is fundamental to the project: bringing jazz to places where cultural offerings are scarce, fostering connection between residents and artists, and revealing the beauty of Norman landscapes through music.
The Jazz dans les Prés program features a dialogue between major jazz names and emerging talents from the regional scene. Leading artists such as Louis Sclavis, Géraldine Laurent, Aurore Voilqué, Marion Rampal, and Arnaud Fradin have performed in often unusual and intimate venues, creating a rare closeness between musicians and the audience.
In a decade, Jazz dans les Prés has presented over 180 concerts in more than 160 Norman communes. The festival continues its mission with an 11th edition in 2026, a testament to the vitality and relevance of this artistic and territorial approach.
The 11th edition of Jazz dans les Prés offers 18 concerts in 2026 across the four partner territories. Among the confirmed dates: Saint-Laurent-de-Cuves (May 22-24), Hérouville-Saint-Clair (July 1-5), Jullouville (July 18-26).
Jazz dans les Prés returns in 2026 with 18 concerts spread across the four partner territories: Flers Agglo, Isigny Omaha Intercom, Seulles Terre & Mer, and Saint-Lô Agglo. Among the confirmed dates: Saint-Laurent-de-Cuves (May 22-24), Hérouville-Saint-Clair (July 1-5), and Jullouville (July 18-26).
