Every year on May 1st, Chablis celebrates spring with its Flower Market, a friendly event that takes over Place Lafayette and the historic center of this village, listed among the most beautiful in Burgundy. For years, this event has brought together residents, gardeners, and wine lovers in a festive and colorful atmosphere.

A plant and craft market

The Chablis Flower Market offers a diverse and carefully selected range of plants:

• Seasonal cut flowers and floral arrangements
• Ornamental plants: perennials, geraniums, petunias, fuchsias, and balcony plants
• Vegetable seedlings: tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce, herbs, and heirloom vegetables
• Shrubs and roses adapted to the Burgundian terroir

Local artisans complement the plant offerings: basket weavers offering baskets and containers, beekeepers with their Burgundy honeys, potters and their terracotta creations, gardening tools, and garden accessories.

The Wine Market: when flower meets Grand Cru

The unique Chablis aspect of this event is the coexistence of the horticultural market with a true Yonne wine market. Winemakers from the Chablis appellation and other AOCs in the Yonne (Irancy, Saint-Bris, Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre) take advantage of this day to open their cellars and offer tastings directly at their estates. A natural marriage between the floral beauty of spring and the wine treasures of the Chablis region.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors and residents gather in a relaxed atmosphere to stroll among the flowery stalls, taste local products, and breathe in the spring air of the Chablis vineyards.
