The annual meeting for hunting and nature in Haute-Marne

Created in 1991, the Chasse et Nature en Fête show has established itself as one of the most important outdoor shows dedicated to hunting and nature in Eastern France. Every year, at the end of August, the magnificent Parc aux Daims of Châteauvillain opens its doors to thousands of enthusiasts for a festive and friendly weekend. This historic 272-hectare park, enclosed by a 6-kilometer stone wall built in 1655, is home to about a hundred fallow deer in semi-freedom and offers an exceptional natural setting for this event.

Over 200 exhibitors in the heart of the forest

The show features a true village of over 200 exhibitors spread under the park's canopy. Visitors can discover a complete range of products related to the world of hunting and nature:

  • Gunsmithing: hunting weapons, ammunition, shooting accessories
  • Equipment: technical clothing, footwear, optics (binoculars, scopes)
  • Animal art: sculptures, paintings, wildlife photographs, taxidermy
  • Local products: gastronomic specialties from Haute-Marne and the Grand Est region
  • Vehicles and leisure: quads, 4x4s, and outdoor equipment

Spectacular entertainment for the whole family

Beyond the exhibition, the show offers a varied entertainment program that delights young and old throughout the weekend:

  • Hunting dog demonstrations: presentation of different breeds (pointers, hounds, retrievers), working demonstrations, and competitions
  • Falconry shows: bird of prey flights demonstrated and commented on by professional falconers
  • Hunting horn competitions: the Trophée de la Trompe brings together horn players from all over France in a prestigious competition
  • Harnessed carriage presentations: parades of traditional hunting packs and horse-drawn carriages
  • Archery village: introductory sessions and demonstrations on a dedicated course, with a medieval stand
  • Clay pigeon and target shooting: simulated wild boar shooting, pellet rifle shooting, and clay pigeon shooting supervised by professionals
  • Paintball and quad biking: fun courses for thrill-seekers

The Haute-Marne wildlife rotunda

A unique scenographic space, the rotunda, presents life-sizeReconstructions of Haute-Marne wildlife scenes: deer in rut, wild boars, roe deer, foxes, and birds in realistic forest settings. This naturalistic display is one of the highlights of the visit.

The grand musical fireworks display on Saturday evening

The highlight of the weekend is undoubtedly the grand musical fireworks display, set off on Saturday evening at 9:45 PM by the pyrotechnicians of Jacques Prévot Artifices. This pyrotechnic show, visible from all over the park, illuminates the forest canopy in a magical atmosphere and beautifully concludes the first day of the show.

An event rooted in the natural heritage of Haute-Marne

Organized by Déclic Haute-Marne in partnership with the Departmental Federation of Hunters of Haute-Marne, the Chasse et Nature en Fête show is part of a long hunting and forestry tradition specific to this department, one of the most wooded in France. Haute-Marne, with its vast forest massifs (Arc-en-Barrois, Auberive, Châteauvillain), is a renowned hunting territory that hosts exceptional wildlife. The show contributes to the promotion of this natural heritage and the transmission of know-how related to hunting and wildlife management.

Chasse et Nature en Fête — edition 2026

The 35th edition of Chasse et Nature en Fête is expected at the end of August 2026 at the Parc aux Daims in Châteauvillain. The show will once again bring together over 200 exhibitors and will offer its usual program of entertainment: canine demonstrations, falconry, archery, clay pigeon shooting, hunting horn competitions, the Haute-Marne wildlife rotunda, and a grand musical fireworks display on Saturday evening.
