Classical music in the open air at the Parc Floral de Paris
Since 2002, Classique au Vert has offered a summer interlude of open-air classical music at the Parc Floral de Paris. This free festival, programmed by the City of Paris, features classical, chamber, and symphonic music concerts on summer weekends, in the enchanting setting of the Bois de Vincennes. From June to September, the greatest performers on the French and international classical scene perform under the Parc Floral's Deltaplane, before a family and music-loving audience seated on the lawn. With an annual attendance exceeding 50,000 spectators, Classique au Vert has become the essential summer event for classical music in Paris.
Born in 2002 from the City of Paris's desire to democratize access to classical music, Classique au Vert quickly established itself as one of the capital's most popular open-air festivals. The concept is simple and appealing: to offer high-quality classical music concerts in the magnificent setting of the Parc Floral de Paris, at a symbolic price (the park entrance fee) or even completely free for Parisians.
The Parc Floral de Paris, created in 1969 in the Bois de Vincennes, offers an ideal setting for classical music. Concerts take place under the Deltaplane, an open-air structure nestled amidst thematic gardens. The natural acoustics of the venue, enhanced by careful sound engineering, allow for the appreciation of all the subtlety of the performed works. Spectators settle freely on the lawn, often with blankets and picnic baskets, for rare moments of gentle musical afternoons.
The Classique au Vert program showcases the great repertoires of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary, including Romanticism and Impressionism. String quartets, chamber orchestras, pianists, violinists, and vocal ensembles perform one after another throughout the summer weekends. The festival has hosted leading artists such as François-Frédéric Guy, Natalie Dessay, the Quatuor Ébène, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, and Alexandre Tharaud.
Each season is built around various themes: a tribute to a composer, an exploration of a musical period, a dialogue between classical music and other genres. This educational and cross-disciplinary approach helps attract a large and diverse audience, far beyond the usual circle of music lovers.
Classique au Vert is part of the trio of musical festivals at the Parc Floral, alongside the Paris Jazz Festival and Les Pestacles, forming an uninterrupted musical program from June to September. This initiative, unique in France, demonstrates the City of Paris's commitment to live music and access to culture for all.
Classique au Vert returns for a new season of free open-air classical concerts at the Parc Floral de Paris, from late June to mid-September 2026.
The Classique au Vert festival once again takes over the Parc Floral de Paris for a season of free open-air classical concerts. From June 27 to September 13, 2026, on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, the large lawn of the Deltaplane will host the finest performers of the classical scene. The program will be announced in the spring of 2026.
