Culture Bar-Bars: When Bars Become Concert Halls

Every late November, Belfort's bars transform into festival stages thanks to Culture Bar-Bars, a national event organized by the Fédération Nationale des Cafés Cultures. This traveling and decentralized festival brings together over seventy French cities, three thousand artists, six hundred events, and more than one hundred sixty thousand festival-goers each year, making it one of the largest and most widespread cultural events in France.

In Belfort, participation in the Culture Bar-Bars festival is part of a long tradition of supporting intermediate venues and contemporary music. The participating bars and cafes become open stages for a weekend, hosting local, regional, and national artists in an intimate and warm setting, a far cry from large concert halls.

A Festival for Emerging Artists

Culture Bar-Bars is above all a showcase for developing artists.
