The Christmas Village in the heart of the city of Pasteur
The Dole Christmas Market, set up every year on the Place Nationale, transforms the city of Pasteur into an enchanted village for nearly six weeks. With its thirty artisan and local producer chalets, its 220 m² ice rink, its carousel, its carriage rides, and its magical shows, this festive event is one of the highlights of the Jura winter. Hot mulled wine made with Jura's Vin Jaune, a local specialty, is the undisputed star of the market. The closing show with the projection of the Nutcracker tale and the arrival of Santa Claus gathers thousands of families every year.
Every year, from the beginning of December, the Place Nationale Charles-de-Gaulle in Dole transforms into a warm and sparkling Christmas Village. At the foot of the imposing Collégiale Notre-Dame, decorated chalets welcome local artisans and producers from the Jura region for nearly six weeks of festivities.
The Dole Christmas Village has 30 chalets — a number that has been steadily increasing over the years — offering a wide variety of products: artisanal jewelry, decorative items, gift ideas, gourmet specialties, and local creations. Two pop-up shops on the Grande Rue complete the offering with eight additional artisans showcasing their creations during the holiday season.
The undisputed star of the Dole Christmas market is mulled wine made with Jura's Vin Jaune, an original local recipe that attracts enthusiasts from all over the region. This unique specialty in France is the pride of the exhibitors and contributes to the market's reputation far beyond the department.
A few steps from the chalets, a 220 m² ice rink brings families together in a joyful ballet on the ice. The carousel in Place aux Fleurs makes children's eyes sparkle, while carriage rides through the historic center add a touch of tradition to the festive atmosphere. The illuminated streets of Dole offer an enchanting setting for evening strolls.
The highlight of the festivities, the grand Christmas show transforms Place Précipiano into an enchanted stage. The projection of the tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King precedes the spectacular arrival of Santa Claus, who distributes candy and smiles to the amazed children. Brass concerts, notably Les Cuivres fêtent Noël, punctuate the festive season with warm musical moments.
The Dole Christmas Market is part of a broader program of illuminations and activities running from November 28 to January 4. The city of Pasteur, with its remarkable architectural heritage and picturesque streets, offers an ideal setting to celebrate the magic of the holidays. The Unidole operation complements the festivities with commercial offers that animate the city center throughout the period.
