The Foire de la Sainte-Catherine is a major historical event in the city of Langres, in Haute-Marne. Organized every last Sunday of November around Saint Catherine's Day (November 25th), this fair is one of the oldest in France, with a history dating back to the 12th century. On Saint Catherine's Day, the streets of the historic center of Langres transform into a huge open-air market. More than 200 exhibitors — traveling merchants, artisans, and local producers — set up over 3,000 meters of walking space in the heart of the old town. Visitors stroll along the ramparts and through the medieval alleys of this city of art and history, encircled by 3.5 kilometers of fortifications punctuated by seven majestic towers.
