An Equestrian Fair of Tradition

The Bouesse Horse Fair is one of the few horse fairs that still exist in the Indre department. Every October, the center of Bouesse comes alive with the arrival of breeders, horse dealers, and equine enthusiasts. This traditional fair brings together heavy and sport horses, donkeys, and ponies, perpetuating an ancient equestrian tradition in this rural commune of Berry.

Heavy Horses and Sport Horses

The fair features a wide variety of equines. Heavy horses, or draft horses, recall the importance of these powerful breeds in the agricultural life of Berry in the past. Sport horses attract riders and equestrian centers in the region. Donkeys and ponies are also presented, appealing to families and lovers of these endearing animals. Breeders and merchants from the region offer quality animals in a traditional fair atmosphere.

The Country Market

In addition to the horse market, a country market is set up in the village streets. Local producers offer products from the Berry region: goat cheeses, honey, charcuterie, jams, and regional specialties. Artisans exhibit their creations, and flea market stalls allow bargain hunters to find antique items. On-site catering completes the offering and allows visitors to spend a full day at the fair.

The Bouesse Fair Committee

The fair is organized by the Bouesse Fair Committee, a dynamic local association that enlivens the commune throughout the year. In collaboration with the municipality of Bouesse, the committee also organizes other events such as equestrian treks, flea markets, and wool festivals. The horse fair remains the highlight of the year, attracting visitors from all over the department and beyond.
