Humor is in the grass: a popular show by the Bouzanne

The Son et Lumière Légendes et Secrets de Brenne was born in 2007 from the initiative of a few residents of Velles who wanted to create a sound and light show on the banks of the Bouzanne. Since its creation, the Festi'Velles association has mobilized over fifty volunteers from Velles and the surrounding communes of the Indre to offer a quality show, combining humor and conviviality in a preserved natural setting.

Comedic sketches through the centuries

The show, presented in an outdoor theater set up in the meadows of Velles, tells through short humorous scenes moments of life in the Berry countryside, from the Middle Ages to the present day. The Saint-Jean fires, the life of village gendarmes, the hippie era in Berry, peasant traditions, and local legends are all themes addressed with good-natured humor that delights audiences of all ages.

A country meal by the water

The evening begins with a country meal served by the Bouzanne river, in the heart of the show's site. The site opens its doors at 7:30 PM and the meal is served at 8:30 PM in a single sitting, allowing guests to enjoy the mild evening before the show begins at dusk, around 10 PM. This moment of sharing and conviviality, typical of the Berry spirit, is an integral part of the experience.

A unifying event for the region

With over a thousand spectators at each performance, the Son et Lumière of Velles has become a major summer event in the Indre. The commune of Velles, with its approximately 950 inhabitants, transforms for a few evenings into a live performance venue where volunteer commitment and pride in local heritage combine to offer authentic and accessible entertainment. The Festi'Velles association has thus produced several original shows in its fifteen years of existence.
