About Fête de la Marionnette

The Fête de la Marionnette is a biennial festival organized in Néons-sur-Creuse, a small village in the heart of the Brenne Regional Natural Park in the Indre department. Since 1999, the AnimaNéons association has brought together puppetry and object theatre companies every two years in August for three days of outdoor and indoor performances, creative workshops, wooden games, and activities for all ages. Entirely designed and organized by volunteers, this friendly and family-oriented event celebrates the revival of a thousand-year-old art form.

A unique festival in Brenne

The Fête de la Marionnette takes place in Néons-sur-Creuse, a charming village located in the heart of the Brenne Regional Natural Park, in the Indre department. Since its creation in 1999, this biennial festival has become a must-attend event for puppet and object theatre enthusiasts in the Centre-Val de Loire region.

A thousand-year-old art revisited

The Fête de la Marionnette showcases the diversity of contemporary puppetry forms: string puppets, glove puppets, rod puppets, shadow theatre, object theatre, animated and manipulated forms. The invited companies offer performances outdoors and indoors, for both children and adults, providing a rich panorama of this living art form in constant renewal.

Three days of celebration for everyone

The festival unfolds over three days in August, from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. The program includes outdoor and indoor performances, street entertainment, play areas for children, and a children's bar. Large wooden games are available free of charge for playing with family or friends.

Creative and participatory workshops

Beyond the performances, the Fête de la Marionnette offers participatory workshops allowing young and old to create their own puppet, learn Scratch with vinyls and turntables accompanied by DJ Tinkiet, or discover other artistic practices. These workshops contribute to making the festival a truly interactive and creative event.

A 100% volunteer event

The Fête de la Marionnette is entirely designed and organized by volunteers from the AnimaNéons association. This village association mobilizes the inhabitants of Néons-sur-Creuse and the surrounding area to bring this festival to life every two years. This volunteer commitment gives the event a warm, authentic, and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of this small village in Brenne.
