Les Percufolies in Ligueil

Les Percufolies is a festival dedicated to percussion, held every year in September in the town center of Ligueil, in Sud Touraine. Created in 2007 by the Grand Ligueillois community of communes, it was taken over in February 2017 by the Envie de Percus association, chaired by François Poidevin. The festival pays tribute to Albert Bergerault (1907-1989), a musician and the first French xylophone manufacturer, who founded his company in Ligueil in 1932.

Percussion in all its forms

The annual program features drums, drum kits, djembes, snare drums, Brazilian batucadas, street brass bands, Latin music, world percussion, and contemporary creations blending acoustic and electronic sounds. Concerts take place on a main stage at Place du Général Leclerc, on the Place de l'Église, inside the church, and as roaming performances throughout the town streets.

A free festival

Admission is free. The town center is turned over to pedestrians for the day, and about fifteen food stalls are scattered along the route, alongside the refreshment bar run by Envie de Percus.

The Bergerault legacy

The Bergerault company, founded in Ligueil in 1932, is one of France's leading percussion instrument manufacturers. Every year, the festival brings the sound of percussion to the streets of the town where this industrial and musical adventure began.
