Les Percufolies in Ligueil

Les Percufolies is a festival entirely dedicated to percussion, held annually in September in the town center of Ligueil, in South Touraine. Since 2007, this free festival pays tribute to Albert Bergerault (1907-1989), an emblematic figure of local heritage, a genius musician, and the first French maker of xylophones, who founded his company in Ligueil in 1932.

Percussion in all its forms

Les Percufolies celebrates percussion in all its diversity, from traditional instruments to the most contemporary creations:

  • Vibraphone and marimba: performances by classical and jazz musicians
  • Brazilian percussion: batucada, samba, and Afro-Brazilian rhythms
  • Cumbia and Latin music: ensembles mixing percussion and brass
  • Electronic percussion: fusion of acoustic and digital
  • Drums and percussion: solo and group performances
  • World percussion: djembe, tabla, steel drum, and many others

A quality program

Each edition brings together high-level artists, mixing local groups and nationally and internationally renowned artists. The 2025 edition notably featured PulsePair, a trio pushing musical boundaries by fusing vibraphone, marimba, drums, and electronic devices.

A free and popular festival

Les Percufolies is an entirely free festival, open from 4 PM to midnight. This free access, desired by the organizers, allows for bringing together a large, intergenerational audience. Food trucks and catering points line the festive route in the heart of the town.

The Bergerault legacy

The Bergerault company, founded in Ligueil, became a major player in the manufacture of percussion instruments in France and worldwide. The festival perpetuates this heritage by making percussion resonate each year in the streets of the town that witnessed the birth of this industrial and musical adventure. Driven by the association Envie de Percus, chaired by Brice Pénicaut, the festival is a true act of transmission and memory.
