Santa's Village: Christmas magic in a thousand-year-old fortress
For several editions now, the Fortress of Montbazon has been reinventing itself for the end-of-year holidays by hosting its Santa's Village. This unmissable family event in Touraine transforms the medieval site into a magical place where age-old heritage blends with the magic of Christmas, offering a unique experience for families.
Meet Santa Claus and ice skating
The most anticipated moment for children is the meeting with Santa Claus, set up in his luxurious chalet in the heart of the fortress. Children can share their wishes with him and have their picture taken with him. Nearby, a Christmas ice rink offers a festive skating area against the spectacular backdrop of the illuminated ramparts. The site also offers carousels and games for the younger ones.
Creative workshops and entertainment
Numerous creative workshops allow visitors to make their own Christmas decorations and Advent wreaths. Children participate in festive craft activities supervised by animators. Magic shows, juggling, Christmas tales, face painting, and caricatures punctuate the visit, while storytelling tours of the fortress recount the history of the site in a Christmas atmosphere.
A "denier" system for activities
Each paid entry includes two "deniers" (tokens) allowing participation in activities and workshops. Additional deniers can be purchased (2 € each), allowing visitors to choose the activities that interest them most. This fun system, inspired by medieval currency, adds a touch of authenticity to the experience.
The illuminated Fortress: a spectacle in itself
The illumination of the fortress is a spectacle in itself. Foulques Nerra's keep, the ramparts, and the gardens are adorned with thousands of lights that transform the medieval site into an enchanting setting. The panoramic view of the illuminated Indre Valley from the top of the fortress offers a magical moment for visitors in the evening. The night atmosphere, between 4 PM and 10 PM, allows you to fully enjoy these magical illuminations.
