About La Clef dans le Sac
La Clef dans le Sac is a storytelling festival held every autumn in the Brenne region of Indre, organized by the Cœur de Brenne community of municipalities and local libraries. The Destination Brenne tourist office confirms these dates and lists the Cœur de Brenne and Brenne-Val de Creuse communities as the event organizers.
Confirmed venues include the libraries in Martizay, Mézières-en-Brenne, Azay-le-Ferron, and Le Blanc, as well as the village halls in Mézières-en-Brenne and Martizay. The organizing team promises to welcome audiences "with new features, emotions, and above all, laughter" for all ages.

A storytelling festival in Brenne
The Cœur de Brenne community of municipalities has been organizing La Clef dans le Sac since 2011 in partnership with the libraries of Martizay, Mézières-en-Brenne, and Azay-le-Ferron. The festival typically takes place during the first week of the autumn school holidays. Along with the summer open-air cinema screenings in Saint-Michel-en-Brenne, it is one of the two main public events in their cultural calendar.
Stories for all ages
Each edition hosts a variety of professional storytellers. The organizers offer performances tailored for children at the Paulnay nursery, as well as shows for youth and families, while noting that some sessions—full of wit and irony—are designed specifically for adults. Performances for younger audiences are held during the day, while general audience shows take place in the evening.

Performances are held in the libraries and village halls of the participating towns. The 14th edition, running from October 20 to October 24, 2025, takes place in Martizay, Mézières-en-Brenne, Azay-le-Ferron, Le Blanc, and Saulnay, with the latter hosting the festival for the first time.
