In the footsteps of Monet and Rollinat
The Espace Monet-Rollinat pays tribute to two emblematic figures linked to Fresselines. Maurice Rollinat, a poet-musician and author of “Névroses,” settled in Fresselines in 1883 and stayed for twenty years, making this village a center of intense cultural activity. He attracted painters, musicians, and writers, including the most famous: Claude Monet, who came to Fresselines at the end of 1889 to paint the wild landscapes of the Creuse Valley.
A rich and varied exhibition program
Located at 2 ter allée Fernand Maillaud, the Espace offers a dense annual program: two major semi-annual exhibitions, four “carte blanche” exhibitions lasting two months each, and one-off events such as the International Collage Days in November. The artistic fields covered are multiple: painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, ceramics, writing, music, singing, and video.
The Painters' Valley, a territory of inspiration
The Espace Monet-Rollinat is part of the network of Sites of the Painters' Valley, a territory that has inspired generations of artists with the wild beauty of its gorges and the confluence of the Petite and Grande Creuse rivers. The center is both a place for exhibition and support for creation, offering artists and visitors a space for discovery and sharing in the heart of a classified landscape.
