The Saison d'Art: Contemporary Art at the Heart of Nature
The Saison d'Art de Chaumont-sur-Loire is the annual highlight of the Centre d'Arts et de Nature at the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire. Since 2008, each spring sees the installation of new contemporary art works across the 32 hectares of the estate, creating a unique dialogue between artistic creation, architectural heritage, and natural environment.
Leading International Artists
Each season, the Centre d'Arts et de Nature invites internationally renowned sculptors, painters, photographers, and visual artists to create original works resonating with the location. In 2025, six artists have been invited, including Fabienne Verdier, whose line drawings capture light and wind, and Carole Solvay, with her trembling feathers. The works inhabit the château, the stables, the model farm, the historic park, and the Prés du Goualoup.
An Artistic Trail in an Exceptional Estate
The Saison d'Art trail unfolds throughout the estate, offering visitors an initiatory journey rich in discoveries, surprises, and emotions. The works are subtly integrated into the landscape, playing with light, seasons, and natural elements. Some installations are ephemeral, renewed each year, while others find their place permanently, enriching an exceptional collection integrated into the estate's heritage.
Triennial Commissions
Initiated in 2008, the triennial commissions foster an in-depth dialogue between heritage and contemporary art. Since their creation, some works produced for the Centre d'Arts et de Nature have become major pieces in the permanent collection of Chaumont-sur-Loire, forming a unique ensemble in France at the crossroads of art, architecture, and landscape.
An Unmissable Contemporary Art Event
The Saison d'Art de Chaumont-sur-Loire has established itself as one of the major contemporary art events in France. It complements the International Garden Festival and the photographic exhibitions of Chaumont-Photo-sur-Loire, making the estate a total artistic creation space, where visual arts, garden art, and photographic art coexist throughout the year.
