Chaumont's big spring funfair on Place Aristide-Briand
The Chaumont Easter Fair is the unmissable funfair event of spring in Haute-Marne. Every year, during the Easter holidays, Place Aristide-Briand transforms into a vast festive space hosting around thirty showmen. Thrill rides, bumper cars, skill games, and candy stalls will delight young and old for nearly two weeks. A family event rooted in Chaumont's tradition, this fair marks the arrival of sunny days and brings residents together in a joyful and friendly atmosphere.
Every spring, the town of Chaumont, prefecture of Haute-Marne, hosts its traditional Easter Fair, a funfair event that transforms Place Aristide-Briand into a true village of rides and attractions. For nearly two weeks, entire families converge on the town center to enjoy this festive gathering that marks the rhythm of the spring calendar in the Haute-Marne city.
The Chaumont Easter Fair brings together about 26 showmen presenting around 35 stands and attractions. The offer is varied and designed to satisfy all audiences: thrill-seekers will find the high-speed rides located at the back of the fair, while younger children can have fun on the carousels, mini-trains, and kiddie rides. The essential bumper cars remain one of the most popular attractions, drawing teenagers and adults to every edition.
Beyond the rides, the fair offers a wide selection of candy stalls: cotton candy, candy apples, churros, crepes, and other sweet treats are an integral part of the experience. Skill games — rifle shooting, duck fishing, ring toss — allow visitors to try their luck to win prizes and plush toys. Fast-food stands complete the offer for on-site dining.
The Easter Fair is part of a long funfair tradition in Chaumont, alongside the November funfair. After a two-year hiatus due to the health crisis, its grand return in 2022 was celebrated with a majorette parade and an official inauguration in the presence of elected officials, demonstrating the attachment of Chaumont's residents to this popular event. Organized by the City of Chaumont in collaboration with the showmen, the fair benefits from a central and accessible location, right in the heart of the city.
The inauguration of the fair kicks off nearly two weeks of entertainment. The lights of the rides, the lively music, and the children's laughter create a joyful and friendly atmosphere that animates the center of Chaumont every evening. Wednesday is traditionally the day for discounted prices, allowing families to enjoy the attractions at a lower cost. The fair generally ends on May 1st, offering a final moment of entertainment before returning to normal.
