Free street arts festival in Decize
Every year in September, the town of Decize, an island city nestled at the confluence of the Loire and Aron rivers, hosts Festi'Rue, its free street arts festival. Since 2006, this popular and family-friendly event has transformed the town's streets into live performance stages for two days.
Festi'Rue is not just any festival. Supported by the Centre Socio-Culturel Les Platanes, it is the result of a citizen and participatory approach that involves the local community in creating a high-quality cultural event. About sixty volunteers, alongside the social center's professional team, contribute each year to the festival's organization.
The Festi'Rue program is designed to appeal to all audiences:
True to its mission of cultural democratization, Festi'Rue is an entirely free festival, with no ticketing or reservations required. This complete freeness allows all families, regardless of their budget, to access high-quality cultural offerings, thus contributing to the accessibility of culture for all.
With 3,000 to 4,000 festival-goers each year, Festi'Rue is one of the major events of the back-to-school season in Decize and the southern Nivernais region. The festival supports professional companies while promoting local cultural initiatives, creating a virtuous cycle between artistic creation and community life.
Festi'Rue celebrates its 20th edition in 2026! The free street arts festival in Decize will offer an exceptional program for this anniversary on the second weekend of September.
Program to be announced on www.festirue.fr.
