Every year at the end of September, the small town of Château-Chinon, in the heart of Morvan, becomes the stage for unique musical encounters between musicians from Morvan, Ireland, and Scotland. The festival Festi Rencontres Morvan Irlande Écosse celebrates the deep cultural and musical affinities that unite these three lands of tradition.
Three Cultures, One Passion
Morvan, Ireland, and Scotland share vibrant musical traditions, a strong attachment to rural identity, and a taste for celebration and sharing. The festival explores these convergences through concerts, balls, encounters, and musical exchanges where accordions, violins, bagpipes, harps, flutes, and bodhráns mingle and converse.
A Program for All Audiences
The festival unfolds over three days with a varied program:
- Dance initiations for schoolchildren starting Thursday
- Themed meals at the professional high school of Château-Chinon
- Free concerts for schoolchildren on Friday
- Concert-balls under a marquee on the fairground on the weekend
- Musical sessions and encounters between musicians
Artists from Three Horizons
The program brings together musical groups from the three territories: Morvan bands, Scottish and Irish ensembles, creating unprecedented musical encounters and authentic moments of sharing. Artists are hosted by local families, strengthening the bonds between musicians and the local population.
A Festival for the Territory
Born at the end of 2019, the association Morvan Festi Rencontres carries an ambitious cultural project for the territory: preserving cultural heritage in rural areas, creating social cohesion through music, and opening Château-Chinon to the world. The festival is a highlight of this action, complemented by initiatives throughout the year.

By car: Château-Chinon is located in the heart of Morvan, 70 km from Nevers via the D978, 55 km from Autun via the D978, and 100 km from Dijon. Free parking in town, particularly near the Salle Louise Michel and the fairground.
By carpooling: Carpooling from Nevers or Autun is recommended. Check the festival's social media to organize your trip.

Take advantage of your visit to the festival to discover Château-Chinon, the former capital of Morvan. Visit the Musée du Septennat, which exhibits gifts received by François Mitterrand during his presidential terms, and the Musée du Costume.
