2,000 years of history across 20 exceptional sites
Épiques Époques is a heritage network supported by Côte-d'Or Tourisme that brings together about twenty emblematic sites and monuments in the department. From the siege of Alésia by Julius Caesar to the first Cistercian abbeys in the world, from medieval castles to the cities of the Dukes of Burgundy, the network invites visitors to journey through 2,000 years of history that have shaped Haute-Bourgogne.
Historical animations in exceptional locations
Throughout the year, the sites of the Épiques Époques network offer various historical animations: re-enactments in period costumes, theatrical tours, workshops for making ancient ceramics, ancient games and sports, Gregorian chants in abbeys, candlelit tours, and evening shows. Among the flagship locations are the MuséoParc Alésia, the Abbaye de Fontenay (UNESCO listed), the Château de Châteauneuf, the Château de Commarin, and the medieval villages of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain and Semur-en-Auxois.
A journey through time in Côte-d'Or
The Épiques Époques network offers an immersive and fun approach to heritage, suitable for all audiences—families, history enthusiasts, tourists, and schoolchildren. The sites are spread across the entire Côte-d'Or territory, between 10 minutes and 1 hour from MuséoParc Alésia, allowing for the creation of day or weekend discovery itineraries. Bike tours and thematic circuits are also offered to explore heritage in a different way.
