An intercultural festival born in Dijon
Les Nuits d'Orient et d'ailleurs is a festival created in 2000 in the Grésilles neighborhood of Dijon, around populations from the Maghreb. Originally more focused on the past and artistic tradition, it has become over the editions a resolutely contemporary event, focused on current affairs and intercultural exchanges, especially since the Arab Spring.
A rich and multidisciplinary program
Each year, the festival offers a rich program combining concerts, exhibitions, conferences, film screenings, theater performances, and workshops. The 2024 edition offered nearly 145 cultural events in 46 venues across the Dijon metropolitan area, exploring the cultures of the whole world with a particular focus on the Mediterranean countries.
A bridge between East and West
The festival champions values of respect, tolerance, sharing, and cross-pollination. It invites the discovery of musical, culinary, literary, and artistic traditions from elsewhere, while fostering encounters between artists and audiences. Each edition highlights a country or region of the world, offering a complete cultural immersion through free and paid events.
A strong metropolitan anchoring
Supported by the City of Dijon and Dijon Métropole, the festival irrigates the entire metropolitan territory. Events unfold in venues as varied as the Théâtre Dijon Bourgogne, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, the Bibliothèque municipale, the neighborhood MJC (Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture), and numerous associative spaces, creating a unifying cultural dynamic for three weeks.
