Running through the heart of Burgundy vineyards
The Marathon des Grands Crus is a sporting event organized each autumn, starting from Dijon and traversing the famous Route des Grands Crus de Bourgogne. Created in 2019 by Thomas Dauvergne and supported by the AM Sports club, it has become in just a few editions one of France's most popular marathons, thanks to an exceptional route through the climats of the Burgundy vineyard, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The event offers several races adapted to all levels: a marathon (42.195 km), a half-marathon (21.1 km), a 10 km race, as well as roller skating races (23 km) and a running/roller relay challenge for young people. All events follow the Route des Grands Crus, offering participants a unique panorama of the world's most prestigious vineyards.
The route crosses the most famous wine-growing communes of the Côte de Nuits: Chenôve, Marsannay-la-Côte, Couchey, Fixin, Brochon, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, and Vougeot. Runners thus pass through Burgundy's most prestigious appellations, in an exceptional autumnal landscape.
Beyond the sporting challenge, the Marathon des Grands Crus highlights Burgundy's wine heritage and gastronomy. Refreshment stations offer local specialties, regional cheeses, and a selection of Grands Crus, and a festive village welcomes participants, making the event a true gathering combining sporting performance and the Burgundian art of living.
The 7th edition of the Marathon des Grands Crus takes place on October 10 and 11, 2026, in Dijon and on the Route des Grands Crus de Bourgogne. The program includes: marathon, half-marathon, 10 km, roller skating events, and a relay challenge for young people, with up to 9,000 bibs for sale.
The 2026 edition of the Marathon des Grands Crus will be held on October 10 and 11, 2026, starting from Dijon. The running races take place on Sunday, October 11, after a day of entertainment and youth events on Saturday, October 10, at the village (Lac Kir).
New for 2026: the 5 km race is removed to make way for additional spots on the 10 km, and the half-marathon now offers two distinct starts from Chambolle-Musigny to accommodate more participants. The route connects Dijon to the villages of the Côte de Nuits along the Route des Grands Crus, with gourmet refreshments (local specialties, cheeses, Grands Crus).
A shuttle service is provided for starts from Chambolle-Musigny (half-marathons and roller events).
Start of the events in Dijon, Place de la Libération and surrounding areas.
