Running through the heart of Burgundy vineyards
The Marathon des Grands Crus is a sporting event organized every autumn starting from Dijon, crossing the famous Route des Grands Crus of Burgundy. Created in 2019 by Thomas Dauvergne, it has become in a few editions one of the most popular marathons in France, thanks to an exceptional course through the climats of the Burgundy vineyard, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The event offers six events suitable for all levels: a marathon (42.195 km), a half-marathon (21.1 km), a 10 km, a 5 km, a 23 km rollerblading race, and a running/rollerblading relay. All events follow the Route des Grands Crus, offering participants a unique panorama of the world's most prestigious vineyards.
The course crosses the most famous wine-producing towns of the Côte de Nuits: Chenôve, Marsannay-la-Côte, Couchey, Fixin, Brochon, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, and Vougeot. Runners thus cross the most prestigious Burgundy appellations, in an exceptional autumn landscape.
Beyond the sporting challenge, the Marathon des Grands Crus highlights wine heritage and Burgundian gastronomy. A festive finish village offers wine tastings, local products, and musical entertainment, making the event a true festival combining athletic performance and the Burgundian art of living.
The 2026 edition of the Marathon des Grands Crus will take place on Sunday, October 11th, 2026. The event will offer its usual six races on the Route des Grands Crus in Burgundy, starting from Dijon.
Start of the events in Dijon, Place de la Libération and surrounding areas.
