A classical music festival in the heart of Ain

Founded in 2011, Festiv'Ain is a classical music festival run by the association Le Val d'Orphée, based in Bombois, commune of Matafelon-Granges, in the Ain valley. The association's name draws a link between the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice and its goals: Orpheus, poet and musician of Greek mythology, used his enchanting music to charm the monstrous Cerberus and thus free the beautiful Eurydice from the Underworld.

Bold and intimate programming

The cautious organization of the early musical events gave way to more daring artist choices, now performing in picturesque and emblematic venues across the department. Each June, the festival offers a series of concerts blending piano, chamber music, voice and solo instruments. The internationally acclaimed Japanese pianist Shoko Gamo is the festival's principal artist, accompanied by musicians such as clarinettist Ann Lepage, international concert artist and member of the Orchestre de l'Air et de l'Espace.

Exceptional venues

Concerts take place at two remarkable locations:

  • Auditorium de Péronnas (chemin du Stade, 01960 Péronnas), a modern hall with excellent acoustics for chamber music concerts.
  • Chapelle de Granges (01580 Matafelon-Granges), a historic building erected in 1325, whose restoration is supported by Le Val d'Orphée. This exceptional heritage setting traditionally hosts the festival's closing concert.

Making classical music accessible in rural areas

Beyond artistic programming, Festiv'Ain pursues a mission to make classical music accessible in rural areas. The festival welcomes all audiences with affordable prices and a convivial atmosphere. The 2026 edition introduces a "Bach and Breakfast" concept — a morning concert preceded by a welcome with hot drinks and pastries, discovering classical music in a relaxed and warm setting.

Over a decade of passion

Since its founding, the festival has steadily grown into an essential event for classical music lovers in the Ain department. The association Le Val d'Orphée, founded in 2009, carries this project with passion, forging links with international artists and showcasing local heritage through music.
