Classical and jazz music in the heritage sites of Tours and Amboise
The 37 Degrees in the Shade Festival is a summer festival of classical and jazz music held from late June to late July in Tours and Amboise. Organized by the association La Simplesse, this festival offers concerts in exceptional heritage locations such as the Cloître de la Psalette, the Church of Saint-Florentin, and the Île d'Or in Amboise, blending classical and jazz artists in an original and accessible program.
Since 2015, the 37 Degrees in the Shade Festival has explored all kinds of music off the beaten path. Born from the passion of about twenty volunteers, including professional musicians from Touraine, this summer festival offers an original program that creates a dialogue between classical music and jazz in exceptional heritage locations.
The festival takes place in remarkable sites in Tours and Amboise:
Concerts are mainly held on Sunday afternoons at 2:30 PM, offering a regular musical rendezvous throughout the summer. This intimate format allows for a unique proximity between musicians and the audience in human-scale spaces.
The festival's program is distinguished by its eclecticism and boldness. Chamber music, piano recitals, contemporary jazz, baroque music, and original creations are featured in the concerts. Each performance is preceded by a opening act entrusted to young talents from the Centre-Val de Loire region, in partnership with ProQuartet.
In 2025, the festival celebrates its 10th anniversary. Over the years, 37° in the Shade has hosted renowned artists such as the Quatuor Magenta, Ludovic de Preissac, Joël Grare, Yoann Loustalot, Adeline de Preissac, and Leonardo Montana, confirming its place among the essential summer musical events in Touraine.
The festival is supported by the association La Simplesse, created in May 2015. Composed of about twenty passionate volunteers, the association's mission is to make classical music and jazz accessible to the greatest number, with moderate prices (€12 full price, €9 reduced price) and free admission for children under 9 years old.
