Salon du Livre Queer de Tours
The Salon du Livre Queer in Tours is a unique literary event in the Centre-Val de Loire region, entirely dedicated to LGBTQ+ literature and culture. Organized at the Tours central library, this annual event brings together authors, readers around the richness and diversity of queer voices in contemporary literature.
A committed and festive event
Created in 2023 on the initiative of the Bédélire bookstore and the municipal libraries of Tours, with the support of the Slay! association, the Salon du Livre Queer quickly established itself as a highlight of Tours' cultural life. The festival traditionally takes place on May 17th, the date of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, thus giving a militant and symbolic dimension to the event.
Program and activities
Each edition offers a rich and varied program: meetings with authors, book signing sessions, queer readings, artistic performances, and drag shows. The 3rd edition in 2025 hosted personalities such as Lexie, Rose Lamy, Lou Lubie, Didier Lestrade, and Quentin Zuttion, with original activities like the "Durs à queer" experience exploring the library's vinyl collections from a queer perspective. Each edition is placed under the patronage of a figure from LGBTQ+ literature.
A place for sharing and visibility
Beyond literary encounters, the Salon du Livre Queer contributes to the visibility of LGBTQ+ people and the promotion of inclusive literature. The event is open to all audiences and admission is free, promoting accessibility and sharing. The Tours central library, with its bright and welcoming spaces, offers an ideal setting for these exchanges.
