When culture comes to the farm
The Brin de Culture Festival is a multidisciplinary festival organized every autumn by the Chambers of Agriculture of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and the Bienvenue à la Ferme network, with the support of the Région Sud. Throughout October, around forty farms in the network open their doors across the region's six departments to host over fifty agri-cultural events: theater performances, concerts, circus shows, craft workshops, art exhibitions, cooking workshops, storytelling, nature walks, and wellness moments. In Manosque, the festival takes place at La Soleillerie, an organic fruit and flower farm nestled in the hills.
Created in 2008, the Brin de Culture Festival is an original initiative led by the Chambers of Agriculture of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and the Bienvenue à la Ferme network. Every year, from October 1st to November 1st, this traveling festival invites the public to discover agriculture and local produce in a new way, by blending artistic culture and the culture of the land on farms open to all.
With over fifty agri-cultural events spread across forty farms in the region's six departments (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, and Vaucluse), the festival offers an eclectic and multidisciplinary program: concerts, theater and circus performances, craft and cooking workshops, art exhibitions, storytelling and sensory walks, wellness moments, and meetings with producers. All events are accessible to all audiences, whether with family or friends.
In the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the festival takes place at La Soleillerie in Manosque, an organic fruit and flower farm managed using agroforestry on five hectares of hills. This bucolic setting hosts live outdoor performances every October: in 2023, the show “Zanatany” by Marisoa Ramonja and Mohamed Mbaé explored identity and uprooting; in 2024, the musical and theatrical circus show “Jusqu'au bout” combined Chinese pole, hoop dance, theater, and music; in 2025, the musical and sensory experience “Mes-sages végétales” and the clown show “Fraîcheur Sorcière” delighted young and old alike.
The Brin de Culture festival embodies a vision where agriculture and culture nourish each other. Each participating farm becomes a venue for performances and sharing, offering the public the opportunity to meet passionate producers while enjoying quality artistic offerings. This approach, supported by the Région Sud, helps to promote the region's agricultural heritage and build bridges between the rural world and contemporary artistic creation.
Since its creation, the festival has continued to grow: from a few farms in its early editions to 38 participating farms for the 18th edition in 2025, Brin de Culture has become a must-attend autumn event in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Free participation in most events makes it an open and inclusive festival, true to the convivial spirit of the Bienvenue à la Ferme network.
