A week of laughter and comedy shows in Metz's venues
The Metz Comedy Festival is an event dedicated to laughter and comedy shows, created in 2023 by the association JUST with the support of the City of Metz. For a week in January, eight Metz venues host about ten shows by renowned comedians and emerging talents. One-man shows, galas, family shows, and multi-artist showcases make up an eclectic program that makes Metz the capital of laughter in Lorraine for a week. The festival welcomes around 3,000 spectators and involves 150 young people from Metz behind the scenes.
Created in 2023 by the JUST association, the Metz Comedy Festival has quickly established itself as a must-attend event on the comedy scene in Lorraine. Supported by the City of Metz, this event transforms the Moselle capital into the capital of laughter for a whole week in January.
Each edition offers about ten shows spread across eight venues in the city:
The festival hosts both national headliners and emerging talents. The 2025 edition notably featured Rosa Bursztein, Michaël Hirsch, Franjo, and several up-and-coming artists. The 2026 edition showcased names like Caroline Vigneaux, Djamil Le Shlag, Laurie Peret, Alexis Le Rossignol, and Redouanne Harjane.
The Metz Comedy Festival stands out for its social commitment. Each year, 150 young people from Metz from local associations and sports clubs are invited to discover the behind-the-scenes of the festival, from technical aspects to event organization. This initiative contributes to democratizing access to culture and introducing careers in the performing arts.
Since its creation, the festival has continued to grow: from its first edition in 2023 to the 4th edition in 2026, the number of shows, venues, and spectators has steadily increased. With around 3,000 spectators per edition, the festival builds a loyal and growing audience and contributes to Metz's cultural appeal during the winter season.
