Chambertin, King of Burgundy Wines

The Fête du Roi Chambertin pays homage to one of the most prestigious Burgundy grand crus: Chambertin, nicknamed the "king of wines" since Napoleon made it his favorite wine. This annual event, organized in Gevrey-Chambertin, brings together the commune's winegrowers and wine professionals for a celebration of this exceptional terroir, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits.

An Exceptional Professional Tasting

The afternoon begins with a professional tasting featuring around forty Gevrey-Chambertin winegrowers presenting their appellations from the latest vintage: Gevrey-Chambertin Village, Premiers Crus, and Grands Crus (Chambertin, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Charmes-Chambertin, etc.). This tasting is reserved for journalists, sommeliers, wine merchants, and traders.

The King Chambertin Ambassadors' Tasting

Since 2025, an Ambassadors' Tasting has enriched the program. Two personalities from the wine world are intronized as "Ambassadors of King Chambertin" and select their favorite picks during a blind tasting of Gevrey-Chambertin cuvées. This distinction honors personalities who contribute to the influence of the appellation.

The King Chambertin Paulée

The evening concludes with the Paulée du Roi Chambertin, a gastronomic dinner bringing together winegrowers, ambassadors, and guests. The menu is created by a renowned local chef, and each guest brings their own bottles to share in the Burgundian tradition. This moment of conviviality seals the alliance between gastronomy and the great wines of Gevrey-Chambertin.
