Festival des 24 Courts: Short Films in the Spotlight in Sarthe
Since 2004, the Festival des 24 Courts has celebrated fiction short films across four towns in Sarthe. Supported by the association Au Film des Mots, based in Volnay, this traveling festival has established itself as a benchmark for the genre in the Pays de la Loire region, attracting film lovers, directors, and cinema professionals every year.
Three Selections for All Tastes
The festival stands out with its program structured into three complementary selections. Ciné d'ici highlights films shot in Sarthe, out of competition, promoting local creation. The 24 Tout Courts brings together films under five minutes in a dynamic and accessible format. Finally, the official 24 Courts competition selects the best fiction short films from 5 to 30 minutes, submitted to the verdict of a jury composed of cinema professionals.
A Traveling Festival in Four Locations
The Festival des 24 Courts unfolds in four venues in the Sarthe department: the Cinéma Simone Signoret in Mulsanne, the Cinéma Les Cinéastes in Le Mans, the Théâtre Épidaure in Bouloire, and the Éolienne in Arnage. This traveling format allows it to reach a large and diverse audience, in both urban and rural areas.
A Prestigious Jury
Each edition invites a jury of professionals from the film industry to award the Grand Prix. Directors, screenwriters, editors, actors, and producers bring their expert perspective and contribute to the festival's reputation within the profession. Film submissions are made via the international platform FilmFestPlatform.
