About Festival du Jeu Morcenais

The Festival du Jeu en Pays Morcenais is a week-long celebration of play organized by the Ludobus, the mobile toy library of the Pays Morcenais community of communes in the Landes region. The festival has no fixed location: each day, a different town in the area hosts the activities, rotating between Arengosse, Lesperon, Morcenx-la-Nouvelle, Onesse-Laharie, Ousse-Suzan, and Ygos-Saint-Saturnin. The last two editions run from Monday to Saturday, October 21st to 26th, 2024, and October 20th to 25th, 2025. The program features giant games, retro gaming, bouncy castles, motor skills courses, robotics, a dedicated early childhood area, Roller Disco, and cinema screenings. Everything is free except for the cinema.

Edition 2026

Festival du Jeu Morcenais — edition 2026

As of mid-August 2026, the Pays Morcenais community of communes has not yet released the dates or programme for the 2026 edition of the Festival du Jeu. The dates shown on this page are yet to be confirmed. In 2025, the festival took place from October 20th to 25th; in 2024, it ran from October 21st to 26th.

2026 edition: no dates or programme released

The websites for the community of communes and the Pays Morcenais tourist office, as well as the library network calendar and the Landes Attractivité departmental agenda, are all up to date and already populated for October 2026. None of them mention the festival. Consequently, the dates listed on this page are provisional.

There is no indication that the event has been cancelled. The Ludobus, which organises the festival, remains active: the community council meeting on July 8th, 2026, approved sending two of its staff members to a training course on "Games, toy libraries and disability", and a Land'art activity hosted by the Ludobus is scheduled for August 26th, 2026, in Lesperon. The festival announcement is typically released late each year: it came on September 11th in 2025 and October 15th in 2024.

A traveling festival across six towns

The Festival du Jeu does not have a single venue. Each day of the week, a different town in the Pays Morcenais hosts the festivities: Arengosse, Lesperon, Morcenx-la-Nouvelle, Onesse-Laharie, Ousse-Suzan, and Ygos-Saint-Saturnin share the program. The venue changes at every stop, and the schedule varies from year to year, so be sure to check the daily location before heading out.

What to play

The 2024 and 2025 editions feature: giant wooden games and the As2Pik shop, a retro gaming zone with arcade cabinets (Pac-Man, Mario Bros, Space Invaders), inflatable street games, troll ball, a sand marble track, a construction zone, family Zumba, and cooperative board games. In 2025, new additions include a climbing wall with Alive Sport, a cardboard workshop led by L'Atelier du Crayon, Robobrick robotics (LEGO robot piloting), and an inclusive space managed by the Pôle Ressources Inclusif, featuring adapted equipment.

Children under 6 have their own dedicated slots: an early childhood area and motor skills courses with the Relais Petite Enfance, sensory paths, and musical baby play. The Brigade à roulettes Roller Disco is the evening highlight, featuring music, games, and contests on a rink set up in a gymnasium, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM in 2025. The week also includes cinema screenings with Ciné Loisirs and a board game evening with the Ludiklandes association and the Ludobus.

Organizers

The Ludobus is a service provided by the Pays Morcenais community of communes: a mobile toy library that travels throughout the year across the six towns for free play, game rentals, and workshops. The festival is one of its flagship events, organized in partnership with local towns, the Pays Morcenais library network, and local associations.
