The essential jazz event of Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Created in 2006 by Jean-Michel Leygonie, the Éclats d'Émail Jazz Edition festival illuminates the city of Limoges every autumn for ten days of concerts, masterclasses, and musical encounters. A true jazz capital in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Limoges hosts international jazz legends and emerging talents in its most beautiful cultural venues: Grand Théâtre, Opéra, cultural centers, and unique spaces. With ticket prices ranging from €10 to €30, the event combines artistic excellence with conviviality.
Born in 2006 from the passion of Jean-Michel Leygonie, a music lover who arrived in Limoges in 1989, the Éclats d'Émail Jazz Edition festival has established itself as the major jazz event in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The poetic name of the festival pays homage to Limoges's artisanal heritage: porcelain, enamel, and the arts of fire, echoing the creative revival of the city's enamellers in the mid-2000s. Now co-directed by Jean-Michel and his son Elie Leygonie, the festival embodies a family legacy dedicated to music.
Each edition offers around thirty concerts, blending international jazz legends, established talents, and emerging artists. The 20th-anniversary edition in 2025 notably featured the Kenny Barron Trio, Ben l'Oncle Soul, Tigran Hamasyan Quartet, Faada Freddy, Renaud Garcia-Fons, Justina Lee Brown, D.K. Harrell Blues Band, Baptiste Herbin Trio, and Ludivine Issambourg. The festival also highlights the regional scene with groups like C-LY, M'Rauz Trio, and the New Octopus 87, an ensemble of 22 young musicians.
The festival takes over about ten cultural venues throughout Limoges: the Grand Théâtre – Opéra de Limoges, the Centre Culturel Jean Gagnant, the Maison des Arts et de la Danse Jean Moulin, the BFM (city center and Aurence), the Espace Jules Noriac, the CDN Théâtre de l'Union, Bâtiment 25, and the Conseil Régional. This dispersed geography invites the public to rediscover the city through the lens of jazz.
Beyond concerts, Éclats d'Émail Jazz offers masterclasses, musical naps, documentary screenings, and exhibitions scattered throughout the city. Since 2025, the "Destination Jazz" program offers free daily encounters at the Limoges Tourist Office, where the public can interact with personalities from the musical and artistic world. Supported by a deliberately accessible pricing policy and numerous free concerts, the festival cultivates a philosophy of openness that attracts an ever-wider audience, including younger generations.
The 21st edition of the Éclats d'Émail Jazz festival will take place in Limoges from November 19 to 29, 2026. After the record success of the 20th-anniversary edition, the festival continues its journey with a new program blending jazz legends and emerging talents.
Building on the resounding success of its anniversary edition, the Éclats d'Émail Jazz Édition festival returns from November 19 to 29, 2026 for its 21st edition. The full program will be unveiled in the autumn of 2026 on the festival's official website.
