Solidarity and multicultural festival in Boeil-Bezing
Created in 2023 by the association Les Trois Mères, Festimaitisse is a solidarity and multicultural festival organized every year at the end of May at the sociocultural hall of Boeil-Bezing. In a spirit of sharing, discovery, and solidarity, the festival offers a lively and friendly day combining African dance workshops, percussion initiation, a giant participatory fresco, a fashion show, dance performances, a reggae concert, and a DJ set. The creators' market, African drinks, the henna stand, and photographic exhibitions complete this multicultural celebration open to all.
Since 2023, Festimaitisse has been bringing a breath of solidarity and multiculturalism to Boeil-Bezing, a small town located between Pau and Nay at the foot of the Pyrenees. Supported by the association Les Trois Mères, this festival was born from the desire to create a space for meeting, sharing, and cultural discovery in a resolutely solidarity-driven spirit.
Festimaitisse unfolds over a full day at the Boeil-Bezing sociocultural hall, with a program focused on participation and discovery. Starting in the morning, African dance workshops led by artists like Fatou Sylla invite participants to learn the rhythms and movements of the African continent. Percussion initiation allows attendees to discover traditional instruments in a friendly setting.
The giant participatory fresco, created live by artist Fanny Pierrot with public collaboration, is one of the day's highlights. A fashion show showcasing original and colorful creations complements the festival's artistic dimension, while photographic exhibitions punctuate the visitors' journey.
The afternoon and evening are dedicated to dance performances and live music. A reggae concert is the musical highlight of the day, followed by a DJ set that invites the public to dance until the end of the evening. The musical programming reflects the festival's multicultural spirit, with sounds from Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond.
Throughout the day, a creators' market offers artisanal objects, jewelry, and textile creations. The African drinks stand—bissap, ginger, bouille—and the henna and African braiding stand provide a complete sensory immersion into world cultures. On-site catering features African and local flavors.
Access to the festival is free during the day, with a €10 participation fee from 6 PM for concerts and the DJ set. Profits are donated to the solidarity actions of the association Les Trois Mères, which works to support women and families in difficulty in the Béarn region.
The 4th edition of Festimaitisse will be held at the end of May 2026 at the Boeil-Bezing sociocultural hall, with a program combining dance, music, visual arts, and solidarity.
Festimaitisse will return at the end of May 2026 to the Boeil-Bezing sociocultural hall for a new solidarity and multicultural edition. The program will be announced in spring 2026.
