Wine Tourism on Stage in Jurançon

Vignobles en Scène is the national wine tourism event that transforms the Jurançon Béarn Pyrénées region into an open-air theater for three days in October. Formerly known as Journées Vignobles & Découvertes, these days have been redesigned to offer total immersion in the heart of the terroir, at the crossroads of wine, art, and heritage.

Unique Sensory Experiences

The Vignobles en Scène program offers varied and original experiences:

  • Opera Evening at the Commanderie de Lacommande: In this historic listed site, operatic voices rise amidst the barrels and ancient stones. An exhibition by local artists enhances the evening, accompanied by a glass of Jurançon for an unforgettable multisensory experience.
  • Vineyard Hikes: Guided walks through the Jurançon hillsides, on foot, by vintage VW combi, or by electric bike, to discover the secrets of the terroir.
  • Vinotherapy and Wellness: Meditation, massages, and tastings at the wine estates for a moment of relaxation.
  • Guided Tastings: Discover Jurançon dry and sweet wines with passionate winemakers.
  • Culinary Workshops: Food and wine pairings and Béarnais regional cuisine.

An Exceptional Region

The Jurançon vineyard extends over the hillsides south of Pau, facing the Pyrenees mountain range. This appellation of controlled origin produces exceptional dry and sweet white wines from the Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng grape varieties. The participating wine estates open their doors to share their know-how and passion.

Heritage Sites

The experiences take place in historic locations:

  • La Commanderie de Lacommande: Former medieval hospice on the Way of Saint James of Compostela.
  • The Wine Estates: Châteaux, manor houses, and traditional cellars of the Pyrenean foothills.
  • The Villages of Jurançon: Monein, Lasseube, Artiguelouve, Gan, and other wine-growing communes.

A National Event

Vignobles en Scène is an initiative of the Fédération Nationale Vignobles & Découvertes, implemented in several French wine regions. The Béarnais version highlights the richness of the Jurançon terroir and the Pyrenean art of living.
