Franco-German Festival for Young Audiences

A one-of-a-kind festival

Created in the early 2010s, the Loostik festival is the only Franco-German cross-border festival exclusively dedicated to performing arts for young audiences. Every year in November, it takes over the stages of Forbach and Saarbrücken to offer a week of shows and workshops that abolish borders between the two countries.

A multidisciplinary program

The festival offers over thirty events spread over a week. The program includes:

• Theater performances in French, German, bilingual, or without words, accessible to all young spectators.
• Dance and contemporary circus, with companies exploring innovative artistic forms adapted for young audiences.
• Puppets and object theater, to enchant both the youngest and the oldest.
• Artistic practice workshops allowing children to discover performing arts and meet artists.

Cross-border encounters and exchanges

Beyond the shows, Loostik fosters encounters between young French and German audiences. Shared workshops and bilingual performances create a unique space for cultural exchange where language is no longer a barrier but a mutual enrichment.

Le Carreau de Forbach, the festival's setting

On the French side, the festival primarily unfolds at Le Carreau, the national stage of Forbach. This performance venue, recognized for the quality of its young audience programming throughout the year, is the ideal anchor point for a festival that places children at the heart of contemporary artistic creation.

A commitment to cross-border youth

Loostik is part of a Franco-German cultural cooperation initiative that goes beyond simple entertainment. By offering young audiences works in both languages, the festival contributes to artistic awakening, cultural openness, and the rapprochement of peoples from a young age. Its 13th edition in 2025 testifies to the vitality and sustainability of this cross-border project.
