The wildlife and nature photography festival in Sologne
Created in 2021 in Salbris, the Sologne Nature Image Festival has become a must-attend event for wildlife photography enthusiasts. Every September, dozens of photographers from France and Belgium exhibit their work in the heart of Sologne, a region rich in biodiversity. Exhibitions, conferences, educational workshops, and school competitions make up a program open to all.
The Sologne Nature Image Festival is an event dedicated to wildlife and nature photography that takes place every September in Salbris, in Loir-et-Cher. Created in 2021 on the initiative of the association Sologne Nature Image and the City of Salbris, this festival has quickly established itself as a benchmark for nature and photography lovers in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
Sologne provides an ideal setting for a festival dedicated to nature. Located just 1.5 hours from Paris by direct train, this region is surrounded by diverse biotopes: ponds, forests, meadows, and rivers that are home to exceptionally rich fauna and flora. Deer, wild boar, migratory birds, birds of prey, and amphibians inhabit these preserved landscapes, offering inexhaustible subjects for nature photographers.
Each edition brings together dozens of professional and amateur photographers from France and Belgium. Their works, exhibited in various spaces in the town, showcase the beauty and fragility of the living world. Large-format prints, narrated slideshows, and immersive screenings allow the public to marvel at the diversity of the animal and plant kingdoms, here and around the world.
In an educational spirit and with a focus on environmental awareness, the festival involves schools in the area. Schools and middle schools in the Sologne des Rivières inter-municipal community are invited to participate in a photography competition on the theme of nature. Discovery workshops and conferences led by naturalists and photographers complete the educational program.
Beyond the exhibitions, the Sologne Nature Image Festival is a place for meetings and exchanges between photographers, naturalists, and the general public. Conferences on wildlife, guided nature outings in Sologne, and practical photography workshops allow everyone to deepen their knowledge of the living world and improve their technique.
Salbris is served by the Paris-Vierzon line with direct trains from Paris-Austerlitz in about 1.5 hours. Salbris station is located near the town center where the exhibitions take place.
Salbris is accessible via the A71 (Salbris exit) or the RD2020. Free parking is available in the town center.
The festival runs for three days, from Friday to Sunday. Exhibitions are open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Conferences and screenings are scheduled for the evenings.
Entry to the festival is free. Some conferences and workshops may require prior registration.
