Each year from late November to early January, Forbach transforms into an enchanting Christmas village under the banner "Christmas of Wonders". The town in Eastern Moselle, located a few kilometers from the German border, offers an authentic and warm Christmas market that attracts visitors from France and Germany.
Three Festive Sites Connected by the Little Train
The Christmas Market is spread across three locations:
- Schlossberg Park: Picturesque chalets are set up at the foot of the historic hill, offering local products, crafts, and Christmas treats in a green setting.
- Aristide-Briand Square: The synthetic ice rink welcomes young and old, surrounded by stands selling mulled wine, oysters, foie gras, and Lorraine specialties.
- Ville Haute: A horse carousel is set up on Jean Monnet street.
The traditional Christmas train connects the three sites, offering a festive ride through the illuminated town.
The Forbach Lantern Path
The Lantern Path is the main attraction of the Forbach Christmas Market. This magical luminous trail winds through the wooded park of the Schlossberg, illuminated by hundreds of lanterns, light decorations, and artistic installations that create a magical atmosphere. - German Flavors: currywurst, pretzels, grilled sausages
- Sweets: gingerbread, crepes, Christmas spritz, candies, and Forbach beer
The Saint Nicholas Parade
On the first Sunday of December, the traditional Saint Nicholas Parade marches down Rue Nationale with floats, brass bands, and candy giveaways. Saint Nicholas, accompanied by Father Whipper, travels through the streets of the city center to meet the children.
