Marmoutier, a small town in the Pays de Saverne nestled in the sub-Vosges hills, is famous for its 11th-century Romanesque abbey, one of the most beautiful in Alsace with its three-towered red and yellow sandstone facade. It is in this exceptional heritage setting that the Christmas market takes place each year, a human-sized event that cultivates authenticity and conviviality.
A Market of Artisans and Creators
The Marmoutier Christmas market brings together about twenty exhibitors, artisans, and creators in the Schlossgarten multi-purpose hall and in chalets set up on the abbey square. You will find:
- Artisanal and traditional Christmas decorations
- Original creations: jewelry, ceramics, textiles, candles
- Local products: foie gras, gingerbread, jams, bredele
- Craft demonstrations: glassblower in action
Magical Entertainment
The entertainment program celebrates the magic of Christmas:
- Fire-breathers from the Burn'n Light company performing and a show starting at 3 PM
- Visit of Saint Nicholas who rewards well-behaved children
- Christmas tales by storyteller Hélène
- Cooking and craft workshops for children
- Giant wooden games for the whole family
- Fire pit and marshmallows to warm up outdoors
- Santa's Mailbox for the little ones
Solidarity and Commitment
The market includes a solidarity dimension with a sale organized by La Forge for the benefit of the Friends of Home Saint-Joseph, and a sale of Christmas trees by the Lutins du Tannenwald for local charities.

Access
By car: Marmoutier is 35 km northwest of Strasbourg via the A4 (Saverne exit) then the D1004. Free parking in the village.
By train: Saverne station (TER from Strasbourg, 25 min), then 10 km by car or shuttle.
Dates and Times
Last weekend of November and first weekend of December. Saturday: 1 PM-7 PM. Sunday: 10 AM-6 PM.
Prices
Free admission (except for certain workshops). Paid catering on site.
Catering
Refreshments and light meals: mulled wine, hot chocolate, bredele, tarte flambée.
