Noël Authentique de Barr: The Magic of the Vineyard

Barr, a small wine capital nestled at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile on the Alsace Wine Route, celebrates Christmas with an authenticity and warmth that truly live up to the event's name. Noël Authentique takes over the historic center of the town for two weekends in December, transforming its half-timbered alleys, inner courtyards, and squares into a festive, illuminated setting.

Over 70 Artisans in the Heart of the City

The Christmas market hosts over 70 artisans and merchants who present their creations and specialties in the streets of the center: Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, Rue du Docteur Sultzer, and around the Musée de la Folie Marco. The stalls offer fine craftsmanship—jewelry, ceramics, candles, decorations, wood and textile work—as well as the essential Alsatian delicacies: bredele, mannele, mulled wine, gingerbread, and specialties from the wine region.

Enchanted Strolls and Live Performances

The spirit of Noël Authentique lies in its enchanted strolls that animate the streets throughout the weekends. Music, storytelling, Christmas carols, stilt walker shows, poetry, and theatrical performances pop up around the corner of an alley to surprise and delight passersby. The St. Nicholas parade, accompanied by the municipal band and escorted by a myriad of sparkling lanterns carried by children, is one of the most moving moments of the event.

The Children's Village and the Elves' Workshop

Noël Authentique places a special emphasis on families. The Children's Village, located at the Town Hall, offers free creative workshops during both weekends: crafts, Christmas decoration, painting, and manual activities. Children can also discover an exhibition of antique toys, build with LEGO, hang their wishes on a wishing tree, and mail their letter to Santa Claus at the Elves' Workshop at 66 Grand Rue. Meeting Santa Claus is possible on the Saturdays and Sundays of the event.
