The magic of Christmas in the heart of the Romanesque city
The Rosheim Christmas Market takes place in the heart of the Romanesque city, on the Place de la République and the forecourt of the Saints-Pierre-et-Paul church, a jewel of 12th-century Alsatian Romanesque art. For three weekends in December, wooden chalets offer local crafts and delicacies, while horse-drawn carriages, a mini-farm, Christmas carols, and the Cour des Artisans enchant young and old in an authentic and warm atmosphere.
Nestled at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile on the Alsace Wine Route, Rosheim is a charming medieval town famous for its exceptional Romanesque heritage. Its Christmas Market takes advantage of this remarkable setting by setting up on the Place de la République, the forecourt of the Saints-Pierre-et-Paul church — a masterpiece of 12th-century Alsatian Romanesque art — and on the Rue du Général de Gaulle.
Far from the crowds of large urban Christmas markets, Rosheim offers a human-scale, warm, and sincere experience. Pretty wooden chalets line the cobbled streets and historic squares, offering a picture-postcard setting. The carefully selected exhibitors offer original handmade creations, handmade Christmas decorations, jewelry, wooden toys, and quality textiles.
A true gem within the market, the Cour des Artisans is a space dedicated to creators and artisans. In this inner courtyard with a hushed atmosphere, visitors discover unique pieces — ceramics, glassware, leatherwork, cabinetmaking — and can chat directly with the artisans about their techniques and inspiration.
The Rosheim Christmas Market stands out for its rich family activities. A mini-farm delights the youngest visitors, who can pet the animals, while horse-drawn carriage rides offer an enchanted tour through the illuminated streets of the town. Christmas carols echo through the medieval streets, creating a magical atmosphere. The scent of spiced mulled wine mingles with the aromas of cinnamon and gingerbread to complete this sensory immersion into the magic of Alsatian Christmas.
A visit to the market is an opportunity to discover Rosheim's rich heritage: the Maison Romane (the oldest civil stone building in Alsace, dating from 1154), the medieval ramparts, and the fortified gates. The town is also an ideal starting point for exploring the Alsatian vineyards and its renowned grape varieties.
The Rosheim Christmas Market 2026 will welcome visitors over three weekends in December in the heart of the Romanesque city, with artisan chalets, the Cour des Artisans, and family activities.
The Rosheim Christmas Market returns for a new edition in the heart of the Romanesque city. Visitors will find the wooden chalets, the Cour des Artisans, horse-drawn carriage rides, and family activities on the Place de la République and around the Saints-Pierre-et-Paul church.
