The Hana Matsuri Festival — literally "flower festival" in Japanese — transforms the majestic Ducal Palace of Nevers into a true crossroads of the "Japanese Ways" every spring. Created by the association Tanabata Nevers Japon, this unique cultural event in Burgundy offers a complete immersion into Japanese arts, traditions, and lifestyle, building bridges between French and Japanese cultures.

Workshops to Discover Traditional Japanese Arts

The festival's program focuses on the practice and discovery of traditional Japanese arts. Visitors can learn ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement that elevates floral composition to a form of aesthetic meditation; kintsugi, the art of repairing broken ceramics with gold lacquer, a philosophy that turns scars into beauty; and calligraphy with a brush, a discipline that combines gesture, breath, and concentration.

Japanese cuisine workshops allow participants to learn how to prepare maki, gyoza, or wagashi (traditional sweets), while the tea ceremony (chanoyu) offers a moment of serenity and contemplation in the Zen tradition.
