Free festival of contemporary music and street arts in Pourrain
Born in 2007 in Pourrain, a village in the Yonne region near Auxerre, Festival Lune Amitié is a three-day free event combining contemporary music and street arts. Supported by the Lune Amitié association, it takes over the municipal stadium every summer with two large stages, transforming this village in Puisaye-Forterre into a true popular and friendly cultural crossroads.
The Festival Lune Amitié was born in 2007 in Pourrain, a small village in the Yonne region nestled in Puisaye-Forterre, about ten kilometers from Auxerre. Initiated by the mayor's son and a group of musician friends eager to offer their community a major cultural event, the Lune Amitié association was formed around a simple yet ambitious project: to offer, every summer, a festival of contemporary music and street arts, entirely free and open to all.
The challenge was quickly met. Within a few editions, the Festival Lune Amitié established itself as "a benchmark in the region and far beyond", to quote the festival-goers themselves. The association obtained level 2 and 3 performance licenses, a guarantee of the seriousness and quality of the productions offered.
It is at the Pourrain municipal stadium that the concerts come to life, with two large stages set up facing each other, surrounded by association stands and food stalls. Thanks to this dual-stage setup, the programming flows without interruption: as soon as a concert ends on one stage, the other takes over, offering festival-goers a continuous musical experience from the afternoon until late at night.
Admission is completely free. Only one formality is requested from visitors upon arrival: filling out some statistical information in exchange for a stamped passport, a fun symbol of their belonging to the festival community.
Beyond the stadium, the entire village transforms for three days. The streets of Pourrain host numerous animations, games, and attractions. The highlight of this village conviviality remains the famous torchlight procession: the stands close, the brass band leads an illuminated procession that winds through the streets before emerging at the stadium, where a fireworks display concludes the procession in general jubilation.
This ability to unite an entire community, both residents and visitors, is one of the most distinctive hallmarks of the Festival Lune Amitié. People come from all over the Yonne, from Burgundy, from Paris, and sometimes from much further afield to spend this August weekend in Pourrain.
The programming of the Festival Lune Amitié covers a wide spectrum of contemporary music: rock, pop, French chanson, reggae, electro, world music. The 2010 edition featured Yves Jamait, a Burgundian singer known for his committed lyrics and electrifying stage presence, attracting around 6,000 spectators for his concert alone. The festival also hosts street performers, jugglers, circus companies, and street theater troupes who animate the public space between concerts.
This artistic requirement, combined with total free admission and a friendly, family atmosphere, explains the growing loyalty of the public and the festival's reputation well beyond the borders of the Yonne.
After five memorable editions, the Festival Lune Amitié gave way to a new adventure led by some of the former volunteers. The association Tous Pourrain Festival took over from 2015 with Lunestival, a three-day event that retains the DNA of the founding festival: free admission, contemporary music programming, street arts, a village of association stands, family entertainment, and free camping on site. Lunestival is held every year on the last weekend of August, thus perpetuating Pourrain's summer festive tradition.
The legacy of the Festival Lune Amitié remains very much alive in this village of Puisaye-Forterre, which has made popular and free celebration a true local cultural identity.
The 2026 edition of the Festival Lune Amitié will be held on the last weekend of August in Pourrain. Three days of contemporary music and street arts at the municipal stadium, with two large stages offering free access, village animations, association catering, and free camping for festival-goers.
The Festival Lune Amitié returns for a new edition on the last weekend of August 2026 in Pourrain. Three days of free concerts at the municipal stadium, two large stages programmed alternately for uninterrupted music, street artists in the village streets, association stands, food and drink, and free camping: the formula that has made the festival successful since 2007 will once again be present.
The detailed program will be announced in the spring of 2026 on the festival's social media.
