Celebrating the rural world of Nièvre
The Fête de la Ruralité is a festive and agricultural event that celebrates the rural world of northern Nièvre. Organized every end of August by the Jeunes Agriculteurs de Pouilly-Donzy-Cosne, this popular festival brings together farmers, artisans, and residents to celebrate rural traditions and local agricultural know-how.
Saturday program in Donzy
The first day takes place in Donzy with a rich program:
- Plowing contest: Farmers compete in this traditional event that showcases mastery of working the land. Meeting point on the Route de Cosne.
- Farmers' market: Local producers offering cheeses, meats, honeys, wines, and local products from the Donziais region.
- Exhibition of agricultural machinery: Modern and old tractors, tools, and equipment.
- Catering and refreshments: Countryside meals and drinks on site.
Festive evening
Saturday evening is all about celebration:
- Torchlight procession: Parade with the Lyre Donziaise, starting from the André Audinet stadium.
- Fireworks: Pyrotechnic show to end the evening.
- Dance with DJ: Dance party to extend the festivities.
Sunday program
On Sunday, the festivities move to Ciez and Châteauneuf-Val-de-Bargis:
- Mass with hunting horns: Religious ceremony accompanied by hunting horn fanfares in Ciez.
- Parade of vintage vehicles: Parade of classic cars and old tractors from Ciez to Châteauneuf-Val-de-Bargis.
