The Guérigny Christmas Market at the Royal Forges

Every late November, the Royal Forges of Guérigny host the town's Christmas market, organized as part of the Artistic Recycling Festival led by Sophie Juramy. Known as "Christmas of Artistic Recycling", this event takes place in the François-Mitterrand hall, on the heritage site of the former royal navy forges, and opens the festive season in the Nevers urban area.

Handcrafted Creations from Recycling

The unique feature of this Christmas market lies in its guiding principle: artistic recycling. Exhibitors, artists, and artisans present unique and environmentally friendly creations, made from recovered and repurposed materials:

• Jewelry, bags, and accessories
• Paintings, photographs, and plant-based papers
• Christmas decorations, lamps, and small robots
• Garden ceramics, metal and cardboard sculptures
• Basketry, tapestries, clothing, and semi-precious stones

Several creators work live on site, offering visitors a glimpse of their expertise. A second space, the Olympe-de-Gouges hall, regularly hosts activities such as a collective fresco on recycled canvas.

The Royal Forges, a Unique Heritage Site

The Royal Forges of Guérigny are an exceptional industrial site. Developed under the direction of the Royal Navy, they produced anchors for French warships for over two centuries. Today, steeped in history, they host cultural and heritage events throughout the year, including the Artistic Recycling Festival and its Christmas market.
