Digital arts and electronic music in the heart of Bernay's heritage
Created in 2022, the Magnétik Festival takes over the heritage sites of Bernay every spring for a unique weekend combining electronic music, digital arts, and immersive scenography. Entirely free, it transforms the abbey church, the chapter house, and historic squares into creative spaces where technology and heritage dialogue in an innovative way.
The Magnétik Festival is a unique cultural event in Normandy that blends digital arts and electronic music in the heritage sites of Bernay, a City of Art and History. Created in 2022 under the name "Année Zéro", the festival is supported by the Intercom Bernay Terres de Normandie in partnership with the City of Bernay.
The Magnétik Festival unfolds in five heritage sites in Bernay, each becoming the stage for installations and performances:
Each edition offers a carefully selected program mixing emerging artists from the electronic scene, digital artists, and video mapping creators. Interactive installations invite the public to become actors in the artwork, while concerts offer a dive into contemporary electronic music. In 2024, artists like Molécule, Violet Indigo, and Modgeist marked the third edition.
True to its philosophy of accessibility, the Magnétik Festival is entirely free. Designed for young people and the curious of all ages, it aims to democratize digital arts and promote local heritage through the lens of contemporary creation. Food trucks and bars accompany each evening, creating a festive and friendly atmosphere in the historic streets of Bernay.
The Magnétik Festival is part of the territorial cultural project of Intercom Bernay Terres de Normandie. It aims to create an event focused on the future and youth, while highlighting Bernay's exceptional heritage. The program crosses disciplines: visual arts, electronic music, plastic arts, graphic design, and cinema, for a resolutely multidisciplinary experience.
The 5th edition of the Magnétik Festival is scheduled for May 2026 in Bernay. The festival will continue to explore the intersections between digital arts and electronic music in the city's heritage sites.
