Lok'en Bulles: Comics by the Water in Locmariaquer

Every September, the Lok'en Bulles Festival transforms the port of Locmariaquer into a true comic strip village. Created in 2018, this original festival brings together about twenty authors and illustrators in tents set up directly on the port, facing the sea and at the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan. This unique maritime location gives the festival a special charm, where comics and the ocean meet.

Encounters at the Heart of the 9th Art

The festival offers meet-and-greets and signing sessions with around 25 authors of comic strips, graphic novels, illustrations, and manga. Visitors can interact with the artists, discover their works, and leave with personalized autographs. The program features both Breton authors and talents from all over France.

The Olivier Gabrielli Prize

A highlight of the festival, the Olivier Gabrielli Prize ceremony rewards a comic strip work selected by the festival committee each year. This prize, named after a late comic strip enthusiast, demonstrates the festival's commitment to promoting and recognizing the 9th art.

Exhibitions, Conferences, and Cruises

Beyond signings, Lok'en Bulles offers exhibitions of original artwork, conferences on the world of comic strips (particularly on Hergé and the great masters of the genre), workshops for young artists, and sea cruises in the Gulf of Morbihan, offering a maritime interlude for festival-goers. Musical entertainment and festive evenings complete the program.

Locmariaquer, Pearl of the Gulf of Morbihan

Located on the Locmariaquer peninsula, at the mouth of the Gulf of Morbihan, the festival benefits from an exceptional natural setting. Between megaliths (including the Grand Menhir Brisé d'Er Grah and the Table des Marchands), sandy beaches, and an oyster port, Locmariaquer offers visitors a rich heritage that ideally complements the festival experience.
