The largest Christmas village in Morbihan in the heart of the medieval city
The Vannes Christmas Market, renamed Christmas Village, transforms the city center of this Breton medieval city into a magical setting every year from late November to early January. Located on the Esplanade Simone Veil and in the historic streets, the village offers about thirty artisan and producer chalets, a Ferris wheel, spectacular illuminations, musical entertainment, and shows. With an animal theme and the ermine as its totem animal, the 2025 illuminations will light up the city every evening.
Every winter, the medieval city of Vannes is adorned with lights and transforms into a true fairy tale for the holiday season. From late November to early January, the city center — ramparts, half-timbered streets, port, and historic squares — is decorated with spectacular illuminations that attract tens of thousands of visitors from all over Morbihan and beyond.
The heart of the event is the Christmas Village, located on the Esplanade Simone Veil, on the right bank of the port of Vannes. About thirty chalets host local artisans and producers who offer their creations and specialties: jewelry, pottery, wooden toys, jams, honey, chocolates, mulled wine, tartiflette, pretzels, and other sweet and savory treats. A Ferris wheel offers a panoramic view of the illuminated city.
Vannes' illuminations are renewed each year around a theme. In 2025, the theme of the Carnival of the Animals, with the ermine as its totem animal, guided the creation of original and magical light decorations throughout the city center. Every evening from 5:30 PM to midnight, the streets, squares, and monuments of Vannes light up, creating an enchanting luminous trail.
The Christmas Village offers a program of musical entertainment throughout the period: choirs, Christmas music concerts, street shows, magical parades, and meetings with Santa Claus for children. This entertainment enlivens weekends and school holidays, making each visit a different experience.
The Christmas Market is a major tourist driver for Vannes during the off-season. The event, supported by the City of Vannes, supports the activity of shops, restaurants, and accommodations in the city center during the winter period and contributes to the influence of this city of art and history, the capital of Morbihan.

The Christmas Village offers many seasonal specialties in its chalets: mulled wine, tartiflette, pretzels, waffles, crepes, hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts, and other sweet and savory treats. Restaurants and creperies in the historic city center of Vannes (intra-muros) are also open and offer seasonal menus.
The Esplanade Simone Veil is accessible to people with reduced mobility. The narrow streets of the historic center may be more difficult to access (cobblestones, slopes). Public restrooms are available near the Christmas Village.
Weekends and school holidays are the busiest periods: favor weekdays for a more peaceful visit. Bring warm clothing and waterproof shoes. The pedestrian streets of the city center are ideal for an evening stroll after visiting the Christmas Village.
