A festival spread across multiple towns

Klasik does not have a single home base. Each edition distributes its concerts across several Kreiz Breizh communes, utilizing municipal halls and the Bon-Repos Abbey. In 2025, the six host communes are Bon-Repos-sur-Blavet, Kergrist-Moëlou, Saint-Nicolas-du-Pélem, Saint-Connan, Rostrenen, and Lanrivain. The list changes from year to year: in 2024, the festival visited Rostrenen, Kergrist-Moëlou, Peumerit-Quintin, and Saint-Connan.

The project

The festival began in 2012. It grew out of the Brittany International Saxophone Academy, which it hosted until 2023, and maintains a strong connection to the saxophone repertoire. The association focuses on five key goals: accessible pricing and outreach to youth and underserved audiences, intimate encounters between artists and locals, the transmission of musical repertoires, support for the next generation of artists, and promoting the Kreiz Breizh region.

The format

Each edition features around ten concerts and events running from October to December, often blending music with theatre, dance, or visual arts. Since 2022, the association has also organized year-round activities, including concerts, artist residencies, lectures, and arts education projects. The Orchestre National de Bretagne is scheduled to perform on December 14th, 2024, at the Salle Guillaume-Le-Caroff in Rostrenen.

Organization

The Klasik association has been based in Rostrenen since January 2011 and remains highly active. It is managed by a seven-member board of directors, with Frantz Gandubert serving as artistic director, supported by around thirty volunteers. It collaborates with the Kreiz Breizh School of Music, Dance, and Theatre, the Kreiz-Breizh Community of Communes, the Côtes-d'Armor Departmental Council, the Brittany Region, and the DRAC Bretagne.
