For over twenty years, Rochefort-en-Terre has transformed itself each winter into a true luminous fairy tale. 'La Magie de Noël' spans five weeks, from late November to early January, allowing visitors to enjoy this light spectacle throughout the holiday season. The illuminations turn on every evening at dusk, transforming a stroll through the village into a unique sensory experience. Weekends and school holidays see particularly high attendance, testifying to the attractiveness of this event, which has become emblematic of the Morbihan region.
Beyond the illuminations, 'La Magie de Noël' offers a program of varied entertainment: themed guided tours 'Christmas Magic', a Christmas market with local artisans and producers, a living nativity scene in the castle park, a carousel for children, and tastings of mulled wine, hot chocolate, and oysters. The village's shops and art galleries also remain open in the evenings, offering a unique Christmas shopping opportunity in an enchanting setting.
Conscious of its environmental impact, the organizers have implemented energy-saving measures: illuminations are turned off an hour earlier on weekdays and use low-consumption LED technology. This responsible approach aligns with the desire to combine Christmas magic with environmental respect.

Free access to illuminations, entertainment in the castle park, and guided tours « Magie de Noël ».
From November 27, 2026 to January 3, 2027, Rochefort-en-Terre lights up every evening at dusk. Thousands of garlands, luminous icicles, and light curtains adorn the paved alleys and facades of the classified village, recreating the magical atmosphere that makes its reputation well beyond Brittany. The event welcomed nearly 180,000 visitors during the 2024 holiday season, with peak attendance of 12,000 to 14,000 people per day.
The illuminations switch on every evening from 5:30 PM-5:45 PM (the switch-on is controlled by a light sensor, so the time may vary slightly). They remain lit until 10:30 PM from Sunday to Thursday and until 11:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. This early switch-off is part of a collective energy-saving initiative.
The castle park hosts a Christmas nativity scene, a carousel for children, and light refreshments (mulled wine, hot chocolate, oyster tasting). « Magie de Noël » guided tours (from 6 €) are offered in the late afternoon on certain dates to discover the village's Christmas history and traditions. Shops and art galleries remain open in the evening.
The Christmas illuminations are visible from late November to early January (2026-2027 edition: from November 27, 2026 to January 3, 2027), every evening from 5:30 PM-5:45 PM until 10:30 PM from Sunday to Thursday, and 11:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. The lighting is controlled by a light sensor, so the schedule may vary slightly.
By car: Rochefort-en-Terre is located 35 km from Vannes via the D775. The historic center is pedestrianized. Parking is paid in most car parks near the village; a free car park is available at Moulin Neuf (900 m away, about a 20-min walk). Spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility are provided. It is recommended to arrive early (before 3 PM) and to prefer weekdays to park easily and avoid crowds.
By public transport: The BreizhGo network serves Rochefort-en-Terre from Vannes and Redon. Special shuttles are available on certain weekends (inquire at the Tourist Office).
Access to the illuminations and the village is entirely free (only parking is paid in some car parks). Guided tours «Magie de Noël» are offered from 6 €.

During the illumination period, restaurants, crêperies, and bars in Rochefort-en-Terre are open in the evening. Stalls offer mulled wine, hot chocolate, oysters, and crêpes. Shops and art galleries also remain open for Christmas shopping.
Security guards and volunteers supervise the event on busy weekends. A first aid post is set up near the main car park. In case of unfavorable weather conditions (black ice, snow), some narrow streets may be slippery: bring suitable shoes.
