About Escales Photos
Escales Photos — edition 2026
New edition of the Escales Photos festival (Mor Braz Festival), from July 1st to October 31st, 2026. Large-format photographic reports are exhibited outdoors on the facades of the villages of Arzon, Locmariaquer, Plouharnel, Le Palais (Belle-Île-en-Mer) and Houat, on the Morbihan coast. For 2026, the festival dedicates a thematic edition to the megaliths of the region, echoing the Carnac alignments and the 'Megalithic Landscapes' site inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage list. All exhibitions remain freely accessible and free of charge, 24/7.
2026 Edition — Megaliths in Large Format
From July 1st to October 31st, 2026, the Escales Photos festival once again takes over the villages of the Morbihan coast with large-format photographs displayed on house facades. The 2026 edition offers a thematic journey around the megaliths of the region: three photographers from the Tendance Floue collective highlight the mysterious beauty of the stone alignments and explore the imaginaries projected onto these monuments. This approach is part of the dynamic of the 'Megalithic Landscapes of Carnac and the Morbihan Shores' site, recently inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage list.
Five Communes, One Photographic Journey
As every year, the route unfolds in five coastal communes: Locmariaquer, Arzon, Plouharnel, Le Palais (Belle-Île-en-Mer) and Houat. Visitors discover the exhibitions as they stroll through the villages, with free and open access, 24 hours a day, from July to October.

Photography steps out of the walls
The Escales Photos festival, also known as the Festival du Mor Braz, is a singular photographic event that takes over the Morbihan coast every summer since 2013. Its concept is original: large-format photographs are hung directly on the facades of houses in the villages of five Morbihan communes, transforming public space into an open-air art gallery.
Five communes, one photographic trail
The festival unfolds in five communes on the Morbihan coast:
- Locmariaquer, on the edge of the Gulf of Morbihan
- Arzon, at the tip of the Rhuys peninsula
- Plouharnel, facing the ocean
- Le Palais, in Belle-Île-en-Mer
- Houat, island of Mor Braz
Each commune hosts one or more photographic reports, creating a discovery trail that combines photographic art and maritime heritage.
Engaged reports
The exhibitions are the result of photographic commissions awarded to professional photographers from around the world. Each report tells a story related to the territory, its inhabitants, its traditions, or universal themes. The subjects covered touch on maritime life, food, landscapes, and contemporary issues of the Breton coast.
Free and open access
All Escales Photos exhibitions are free and open access, 24 hours a day, from July to October. This free and permanent accessibility is the strength of the festival: visitors, whether residents or tourists, can discover the exhibitions as they stroll through the villages.
Over 750 photographs since 2013
Since its creation, the festival has produced 36 exhibitions, displayed over 750 large-format photographs, and commissioned photographic works from nationally and internationally renowned artists. This collection constitutes a remarkable visual heritage of the Morbihan coast.
A festival rooted in its territory
Escales Photos is part of an initiative to promote coastal heritage and its inhabitants. The photographs, in dialogue with the facades and alleys of the villages, create an intimate relationship between art and the daily life of the places that host them.
